IIn March of 2005, we were awarded a grant through the Kansas City Chapter of the Missouri Native Plant Society for restoration of the glade. Thanks to the generosity of this wonderful organization and its members, we were able to begin work on the project in November of 2005. A shear was brought in to clear the island of trees that dominated the central area of the glade. Trees as tall as twenty and thirty feet high were cut down and piled in a large stack to be burned at a future date.
In January, 2007 conditions were right for buring. Winds were moderate, with patches of snow and ice convering the ground.
Burn in progress.
