South Fork Prairie is the only known location in Cass County where Missouri Evening Primrose can be found naturally.

Missouri Evening Primrose gets its name because it usually blooms at dusk. The beautiful yellow blossoms open at sunset and wither the next day. The name Bigfruit refers to its rather large, papery seed pods.

The primary pollinator of Missouri Evening Primrose is the sphinx moth.
